I spent today preparing and contributing to a new major book on Black Sabbath which will be published in 2026.
Celebrating with one of their very much misunderstood album ‘ Forbidden’ from 1995.
This is the 2025 remix which really brings the guitars and drums to the fore.

Jethro Tull : Thick As A Brick : 1972
Having played the 1972 original mix yesterday today I went for the 1997 remaster and and then the Steven Wilson Remix.
Now I’m enjoying the 5.1 surround version!
Totally immersive, like sitting in the middle of the room as they play around you.

Saturday’s has always been about visiting record shops. However before dedicated shops like Virgin appeared every high street store seemed to sell records. I remember buying singles and albums from Woolworths, WH Smith’s, Boots The Chemist, John Menzies and The Midland Educational.

Yoga is very important to me and has been the key for physical and mental health. This was taken in September 2019. I was 60 in the photo. I’ll admit this posture is currently beyond my reach but I’m now working my way back to it ( very mindfully )

This is Perranuthnoe Beach in Cornwall where I live. I walk here most days and many of my Music & Mental health videos are filmed here. If you stop and listen you can hear music in nature. There is rhythm in everything but also space for your own ideas to surface. Phil
