Bird friendly glass should be compulsory. They can retro fit a friendly film over the glass but the authorities are not interested in preserving wildlife.
When they built the pretty glass wall sea defences at New Passage so knew it would be a disaster. I have seen several dead Wood pigeons killed by hitting the glass and this morning I found this dead Sparrowhawk. Stupid waste.

I live on an island which is not just bird-rich but also covered in free-roaming cats. And some folk here like to tell me cats don't have impacts. Or bring in few birds. What the cat brings in isn't all the cat kills. Just look at the estimate from the US!
I was saddened to see the number of cats on my recent visit they were everywhere. Even amongst the Tern colony on Sanday. The cat population needs controling. Cats kill millions of birds a year in the UK.(Brittish Mammal society).
Orkney “wildlife”. Big effort to eradicate Stoats on Orkney. Need to try do something about the high cat population they’re everywhere, especially on Sanday.
