Engineer by trade, philosophical anarchist with a Taoist take on Christianity. Absurdist humor helps me cope with our mad, mad, mad, mad world.
Not every word, and that is what makes the lies even more dangerous. But even their truths are part of a lie. They are conmen. Truth is nothing but a tool for manipulating others to their ends.

I would actually argue it is harder to have capitalism without a state than socialism without a state.

Freed market socialism is actually quite coherent and demonstrates how choice and autonomy can be maximized by removing the privileges of wealth enforced by state power (see Tucker's Big Four).

So what's an anarchist to do when surrounded by so much nationalistic fervor for demagogues?

I get why you're feeling that today, but a vanguard can always be corrupted and co-opted, and then it's just another instrument of power ready to be abused.

He uses them only when he has no choice.
Peace and quiet are dear to his heart.
And victory no cause for rejoicing."

Maybe if the Stalinists didn't subvert the revolution in 1937, it would have gone differently. It's almost like the pursuit of power was more important than what they were fighting for - how human.

If both the socialists and anarchists were aligned against the communist dictatorship, doesn't that point out that maybe it wasn't so glorious of a revolutionary administration?

That they were so desperate to remove it from power as to side with liberals and moderates isn't a win for communism.

No, I'm not accepting the authority of Marx as the only economist who understood how legal systems of power result in privilege and wealth for the few.

I'm pointing out that you're playing games with definitions to avoid my point that communism doesn't actually rid us of the need for commodities.
May 23, 2024 at 11:45 AM
You're not making a point by asking what do we do when they start dropping bombs on us.

What did Vietnam do? What is Rojava doing? They're fighting. They're fighting and resisting. Of course you fucking resist empire when it goes on the offensive.

It's authoritarian to disregard the state apparatus that enforces the privileges required to accumulate mass wealth?
May 23, 2024 at 11:42 AM
You're still producing commodities if you're producing things that are the same regardless of where they're produced. You can try to tell yourself otherwise, but at that point you're just playing semantics because papa Marx defined it as such.

And you aren't?
May 23, 2024 at 11:37 AM
You eliminate the legal construction of absentee ownership and that vast wealth accumulation is limited to what they can personally keep secure. You can't be a landlord without a state defending that artificial right to lord over the land.
May 23, 2024 at 11:36 AM
To be clear, I am completely against workers being commodified, but production of commodities is inescapable.

You're going to keep producing rice, corn, copper, and iron. No industrialized society will ever stop producing commodities. Even central planning bureaucracy will end up producing them.

Everyone of all political stripes dies when bombs are dropped on them, even communists.

No, it isn't. You don't get to define all terms and call it truth. Just because you have a self-referencing lexicon given to you by M+L to reinforce your picture of the world doesn't make it right.

You can have markets without capitalism. You can organize without hierarchy. More is possible.
