This sent me down a rabbit hole of finding other words using the suffix -trix from the early 20th C to denote a female version of a role or occupation. Some of my faves: aviatrix (🛩️), mediatrix (⚖️), administratrix (🗄️) & inheritrix (💰). The only one still in common parlance really is dominatrix
