I was gonna watch the second episode of This Monster Wants to Eat Me, but I need another day.

I mostly square this circle by believing that if you think every person deserves decency and care I literally don't care about the rest.

Religion? Cool. Ideology? Great. Nothing matters but every person being a person. But we gotta start with that (and it would be cool if we dissolved all borders)

I've talked about this before, but I went to a Jesuit college, and so I was taught by people who I have immense respect for under an institution I think is...pretty awful.

Like, one of my professors spent sabbatical going to the border to help refugees. He was a Jesuit Priest.

The victory of the dollar as the global currency had nothing to do with all of our adventures abroad, but we sure did benefit by extracting resources under a banner of trade, huh?

The Cuba embargo has gotta be one of the most obvious foreign policy failures of Cold War tribalism, setting aside the utter cruelty.

If the US did literally nothing we would've won. Same for Vietnam and every other genius move that immiserated everyone else and got us nothing.

Working through it word by word, sentence by sentence, reminded me why I like this job so much. Writing is so wonderfully expressive and personal, no matter the form.

We got to spend an hour figuring out exactly what she wanted to say, and how she wanted to say it. By the end she was so exuberant.

Still upset about what one of my colleagues did on Thursday, but to be positive about that day:

I got to spend an hour with one, single student who was upset because English is her favorite subject and she wanted to impress her teacher, but hated the essay she wrote about the imagery in her poetry.

I actually just love this show. I'm a sucker for the villainess genre, but this is great so far.

I'd definitely recommend the dub of May I Ask for One Final Thing just for the glorious obscenity, but Morgan Lauré also just kills it as Scarlet.

I saved up a bunch of social links in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and spent the morning going through them as a treat.

And every once in a while I fight a battle or whatever.

I didn't think of this until now, but last season was interesting in how it had a show about the vibrant connections of urbanism and another about the smothering alienation of small towns.

I have no real point, it is just usually the reverse. Gritty city, pleasant pastoral.
