Disabling the newest version of "Smart features" (aka fucking Ai) in Gmail means also disabling spellcheck.
Apparently Google can't figure out how to make a spellchecker that doesn't us Gemini, or something. Thank god my browser has it built-in now.

If you change that to "somewhen" you can use it any time, even 8:47am.
