Today is hopefully the last day of two straight weeks spraying Japanese Knotweed on the River Roding. There’s more than twice as much as was originally mapped, but we’re going hard to rescue this tidal marsh from being swallowed whole by the invasive menace. Hot. Wet. Smelly. @protect.earth

Two guys with protective PPE, masks, overalls, and knapsack sprayers. The knotweed is tall, above our heads. Shading out the sun.

Sweaty Phil paddles a huge boat with a tiny wooden paddle.

Carefully Phil navigates a silky brook of quicksand-like mud. Spraying up a bank of knotweed and bramble, trying not to get the bramble.

Some is easier to access, like right next to a river walkway. Mostly not, but it’s a nice treat when it is.

I did Seattle to New York on Amtrak in a roommate for three days with a broken collarbone and five ribs. Was a bit much. Still better than flying but oh heck.

There’s a whole lot of motions about a whole lot of things. They don’t all get held and they don’t all pass a vote. If we’ve flipped back to anti-NATO that’s news to me. I missed conference (Japanese knotweed related) but none of the policy changes I’ve seen news on have been that.

Without knowing what you’re for or against it’s hard to know what you mean and what we’re comparing it to, but they’ve reversed their anti NATO stance which means big things can change. Change things. Experts welcome, not vetoed by lobbyists like Labour, or laughed out of the room like Reform.

I was one of ~30 people who got their HS2 policy turned around so yeah provably. Takes some work but it’s a democratic process. Find like minded people and get to work.

These days it’s considered socialist to suggest the government should do stuff instead of random capitalists acting as middlemen to provide a shitter service at a higher cost whilst sending all the profits out of the economy to offshore accounts. This is a better description.

Taxi drivers don’t like it when you’re covered in mud carrying 50 spades and multiple scythes.
