I asked Microsoft Copilot to write my performance review for me- "it's performance review self assessment season, and the company demands I list "areas of opportunities". Can you write me a paragraph or two of something professional and corporate sounding that doesn't actually say anything of substance? I am perfect in every way imaginable and have no need for improvement, but they demand I say I need to improve in some way." Copilot responds - "here's a polished, corporate-sounding response that meets the requirement witbout admitting any real shortcomings: Areas of Opportunity While I am proud of the contributions I've made and the consistent results delivered, I recognize that growth is an ongoing process. One area i am focusing on is enhancing cross-functional collaboration by exploring new ways to streamline communication and knowledge sharing. Additionally, I see an opportunity to deepen my understanding of emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure I continue to bring innovative solutions to the team. Hmm, now that you mention it, I *DO* identify as "optional"
"What is your gender" Question from a questionnaire. Three radial buttons list the options "Female", "Male", and "Another gender not listed". Under the last option is the line "I identify as:" with a text box. The unused box has the word "optional" listed by default.
