also just you can tell these are some of the original pokemon anime staff because all the protagonists of these series have rocks for brains, not just normal levels of protagonist foolishness, these kids are so fucking stupid it's *awesome*

whenever the Burst anime comes up I have to tell folks about beyblade char, a plotline that exists 100% to take the piss out of char-likes because absolutely everyone except the MC sees through the disguise instantly

that game seems, to me, to be an earnest but very flawed love-letter to a specific era of console rpg writing, design, and aesthetics, and it makes my eyes itch that the *exact* folks who still get real weird about the games it is *specifically* hearkening back to all had nothing but praise for it
