Graphics were one of the last things I learned, because the wonderful Usborne books I learned BASIC from had listings that could be used on all the popular 8-bit home computers (with only minor changes shown in footnotes). Graphics were too different between machines, so there were none.

We had Deutsch Heute. It was about 20 years later when I discovered that Die Toten Hosen were a real band and not just made up for the examples in the book.
