Badger was my fave, but then it was set in Madison, where I was living. But all of First were excellent.

I don’t think he TRIES to keep track of his lies. He has always said whatever came into his head, even if he contradicts himself, that’s not new. He always says what he thinks will gain him an advantage in the moment. He believes none of what he says (except what feeds his endless egotism).

Well, as a lot of everyday people know from experience of growing up in situations without two parents in the home, if there aren’t any parents around, you have to parent yourself, and teach yourself how to become a functional adult. There are whole schools of psychology about this.

The current sociopolitical troubles are accounted for in the Trek timeline, as it has to get darker before it gets better. Currently new technologies like gene editing aim at the Eugenics Wars, for example. Trek is about the species surviving our “teenage” years as a *species*, and becoming adults.

In the music world, which is my natural habitat, “musician’s musician” means someone other musicians admire and praise for their skill, creativity, and brilliance, even if the general public barely notices them. Most of my my own favorites are like that.

Similar for “actor’s actors,” I imagine?

Gay men like me who design digital typefaces with names like Callispiral, Wisp, Undieline, and Scraggle . . .

But I also designed more manly fonts like Smith & Wesson Corona, Marrow, and Death To Courier . . .

I’m sorry, what was the point I was trying to refute?

Real men use only SLAB Serif fonts.

This is the way.

I really don’t comprehend performative ratings lists. I mean, I read a ton of books per year but I don’t feel any need to list them. I sometimes share a book cover to say how much I liked the book, or because it prompted an essay. But lists? They take too much time and effort.

It’s an interesting analogy.

The part of it that I (wizard) find baffling is that so many musicians are so proud of being musically ignorant.

Yes, I’m looking at my fellow bass players. (Albeit my main instrument now is Stick and NS/Stick.)

Editing and rewriting through these poems has brought back good memories of a time of living in freedom unlike any I’ve had since. There’s some good work in here. I hope I can find a publisher for it.
