Art account from a guy who sees strange things when he presses on his eyeballs too hard. No actual angels were harmed in the making of this art. Chaos mandalas are my game.
Despite not having a strong center for contrast, I like the almost magic mirror / scrying pool look to this Paint Series piece. There are so many fun parts of this that I had to keep it around. Happy Wednesday!

If you had a magic mirror, what would you ask it first?

"What do you think of the new applicants? Anything promising?"

"Honestly, I'm leaning toward adding Glextraphizorb to the next round of interviews."

"What is he the demon of?"

"Walking up with a headache after finally getting enough sleep."

"That's nasty. I like it. Add him."

"Don't the bomb shadows make this obviously an explosion right here at the epicenter?"

"With more randomness, yes, but the regularity of bodies is just too perfect. I bet if we get some drone footage, we'll see patterns that show this was forceful planar movement."

You know what this Wednesday needs? NEW PAINT SERIES POSTING! This piece really shows all the things I love about the paint series, which I learned from my main series. Definite color set with lots of depth and texture. Also, I'm a sucker for the eleven-fold reflection/rotation.

"No, the Zurvan flower's fruit doesn't actually slow down time. That would be ridiculous and impossible."

"Oh, good to know."

"However, it does speed up mental processes and physical reactions so to the affected, time certainly feels slower. No, Katie, we're not just snorting it."

"Norman, what if we move out?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean all the work you're putting into adding these arcane power and protection sigils into the ceiling medallions. What becomes of them?"

"They will either be a part of the asking price, or just a nice surprise."

Being the first Wednesday in December, today is Alternate Paint Series Wednesday, a subset within the paint series where I abandon all reason and throw things at the wall.

Seeing things as symmetrical always means we're trying to see something figural, but these stay abstract.

"Once we get the containment field set up, then we can direct the star's energy where we want it and when."

"And all it took was the death of millions of creatures."

"Well, what can I say? Progress is messy, Xrendestlaub."

"Here I thought we demons were dark. You humans scare me."

"In trying to establish why we see so few ghosts with so many deaths, we discovered that all 'haunted' locations are actually connected through non-spatial tunnels."

"Aha. So what we see as 'ghosts' are just people moving in the connected spaces. That makes sense."

It's not just Wednesday, but here in the States, it's Thanksgiving eve, and also paint series Wednesday.

I like some of the shapes here so much that I do a lot of forgiving of the color set. This particular blue/green feels like a 1950's bathroom tile. But it offsets the purple pretty well.

"Patrick, can we talk?"

"Sure."

"You know that this sentient jelly slime is a sacred fungus to this people?"

"Yep."

"And you know that they revere taking part in it upon death?"

"Totally."

"Can you please stop referring to their burial rites as 'hitting the ol' scrambled eggs?'"

"So you got it! You finally got the Circlet of Sangapperion. How is it? You've got to be excited to use it in battle."

"Sure, but it sucks all the other times. I can't turn it off. Do you know how hard it is to talk to a woman when you can see her circulatory system?"

I had real questions about whether this one would make the cut since it's has such a simple set of colors, but every time I decided to shelve it, I couldn't. It's endearing somehow.

The Paint Series is the "red-headed-stepchild" of my works, but I'm becoming more appreciative.

"Lance, I just talked to the chief elder, and I think we're on the right path."

"He literally laid down on the ground to keep us from going in the cave."

"Because he didn't know we were looking for the Phoenix Egg. He kept warning us because they're scared of the 'Feather dragon.'"

"Once we're on the surface, we're only going to get one shot. We'll have to rappel past the ... uhhh ... mouthparts to get to the ... err ... secretion glands in a hurry."

"Ahem. Well, that's where our team comes in, because we'll be restraining the dangerous bits."

I've never stared deeply into the Orb of Confusion, but if I did, this is what I imagine it would look like.

The paint series really has some gems in it, and even though the colors are not really bold, this is one of my favorites. I hope your Wednesday isn't too confusing.

"Hey, have you talked to Nick lately?"

"He and I don't hang as much."

"Exactly. Not since we went to the carnival, right? Do you remember much from when we went into the Clown House with all the mirrors?"

"Not really..."

"Yeah, ever since that night, Nick seems really different."

"Addison, I'm really worried about all this pollen. I think it's doing things to me."

"Like what? Are you sick?"

"I've seen down there. Down in the pit. And I know it's nothing but spikes and digestive juices. But my brain keeps telling me it's soft and comfortable."

As we begin November, I'm happy to post the alternate-paint series offering for this month. I left strokes uneven to combat symmetry.

For some reason, this one feels more like an eye than most others, although it a difficult connection to avoid with the radial/circular shape my works usually have.

"The Veslar from Stygia will be there, and his footman says he needs the closets to be lined with lead."

"I saw that on the order. What does that mean?"

"He'll be wearing the Vestments of Undeniable Unction. Jerk as clothes made with threads from the hair of the Last Fallen Angel."

"Slaying the Black Dragoon Knight is really only half of our problem, because then the real party starts."

"What do you mean? Shouldn't the battle just be over?"

"You see, that pendant he wears absorbs damage like a battery. Once he dies, all that damage goes boom."

There is a bit of an art nouveau quality to this paint series Wednesday piece, but in color and in line behavior.

One of the early influences that got me thinking about art like this was Celtic knotwork, and this also has a little of that, although not with intention.

"I'm not sure which was the bigger discovery, that gates to the underworld are actually portals to different stars, or that they're all connected."

"That's an awfully positive spin on us finally figuring out how the demons always win."

"Well, yes, true, but at least now we know."

"You know, Bob, I'm not so sure this flower tea is really hallucinogenic as they claim."

"It's Bernard, and you haven't worn clothes for about two weeks. You talk to every animal we come across and you giggle in your tent all night long."

[SIPS TEA]

"Hmmm. Maybe."

Getting back to the regular schedule, here's this week's Paint Series Wednesday offering. It's a little moody, and the colors are a bit squidgy, but I really liked the ridges effects. Feels a bit like gills or something.

There's something to the sea-creature look that works. They're so alien.
