Great news! My book on transnational fair trade activism is out. It's been an unbelievably rewarding trek from starting this research in 2012 to today. I hope you will find it as worthwhile reading it!

By way of a preview, I wrote about 5 insights from the book: cambridgeblog.org/2025/06/five...
Five Things You Should Know About Fair Trade
Fair trade has become a household name for many shoppers who encounter certified products on supermarket shelves. But behind those labels lies a complex global movement with a rich history.

As climate change was recognized as a growing threat since the 1980s, civic contestation has crucially shaped how we have responded.
On 4 June, we will explore the evolution of climate activism with @ruthamorgan.bsky.social, Stephen Milder, André Nollkaemper and Liesbeth van de Grift. Come join us!

Can activists change businesses? In this special issue, an inspiring group of colleagues explores attempts to do so, and discuss the opportunities and limitations these historical cases bring to the fore.

Thanks to all of them, and to @sabinepitteloud.bsky.social for the great teamwork!

second to last session included a wonderful visit by @phvandam.bsky.social who talked about his research on the fair trade movement, how cookbooks are a view into every practices, and what we add to environmental history through a focus on food and food cooperatives!

Yesterday, Amsterdam was on strike. With 5000 students and colleagues we were on Dam square to protest 1,1 billion higher education budget cuts. We call on the Senate to stop these disastrous measures. #WOinActie
