Sweden 2009 decided to rely on EU treaty as alternative to Nato membership. At that time most of Europe favoured depending on Nato=US & not interested in developing EU forces. Thus our focus became Nato pfp without membership.

There are vulnerabilities in political stability and pro-Russian sentiment in different countries. In NB8 we really hate Russia, so our Russian right must pretend not supporting Russia. In others many openly pro-Russians

I’ve got the impression that Russia, China, US, Belarus and some other dictators consider dividing the world in areas of interest among them. Everyone in those areas will need security.

We have the EU's defence clause, Article 42(7) of the EU Treaty, is a mutual defence clause. EU have economic muscles that Nato doesn’t have. Probably a new EU+🇺🇦🇬🇧🇨🇦🇳🇴 defence treaty.
