Physics Teacher, once upon a time Geologist.
They're phenomenal aren't they? We had them a while back and it was fantastic, though we actually got a lot more out of the meteorites than the moon rocks.

I try to teach where some of the symbols come from, as I think it can help them to have the story and ensuring they have a chance to explore the greek alphabet, so they understand that these are not just 'weird letters'. I hope it helps... would like to know if there's any research on it out there.

Look our for trips in unexpected places... this was a fabulous Year 12 Physics trip www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tat... - did have to go on a recce to write a set of questions for it, but it was really worth it.

If you're going to a museum, think about how you get them to really engage with objects. Getting them to really look at an object and then talk to thier group about why they choose it, why it's important etc... can be really powerful.

I'm pretty sure mine did, it's hard to say, I think I would have ended up in the same place without the tirps but KS4 trips certainly had a strong influence on some of my future decisions.

I really love Physics at Work at Cambridge - you always get something different (but please don't book, it's already too popular!).

Sounds great - I did a public open day years ago, which was tours of both Diamond and CCFE and it was fab. Also easily accesible by public transport.
