I thought I knew Infocom’s Activision era history well enough, but I had not been previously aware of Mini-Zork! I enjoyed hearing your remembrances and experiences with both Zork variants.

And from your interactive fiction peanut gallery, I found ASCII Cars and Speed Racer at IFDB. For musings on how they can work, here’s a thread on an abandoned text adventure about auto racing called “The Debt.” So as Jason said, they certainly exist! forum.choiceofgames.com/t/text-based...

An eye-opening and horizon-expanding episode. It made me realize how little I know about IF so it motivated me to dip my toes a bit more into the IFDB pool. Mathbrush’s reviews on the site provide a good entry point for a panoramic view of the IF scene, and I’ll try some of his recommendations.

I also have an iPad Air 2 but it had been updated to 64-bit iOS and sadly there is no way back to 32-bit with that device after updating it.

And maybe my iPad sluggishness is due to throttling, akin to your battery issue. It’ll be interesting to see how long a charge lasts on mine nowadays.

Yes, I love how the boxed elements and the Invisiclues are integrated into the game! My 4th generation iPad seems sluggish compared to the modern iPads but I’m not complaining!

Disk version. I am in the US so I was unaware of the tape version until you mentioned it on the program. Very interesting!

I bought the C64 Robots of Dawn while in high school. My simpleminded reactions: I didn’t think that Lije was a plausible nickname for Elijah ‘cause it didn’t sound cool enough for the future. A friend and I also privately used the title of R. instead of Mr. for a teacher with a robotic personality!
