Speciesqueer Pride Flag

The colours of the flag take inspiration from both the Genderqueer flag, by @marilynroxie.bsky.social (2011), and the Nonhuman Unity flag, by @coyote.tel (2020).

The sinusoidal geometry of the flag references the shape of the DNA double helix.

Speciesqueer Pride Flag.

The flag has a 3:2 aspect ratio. It has 3 colours: green at the top, purple at the bottom, and white in the center. The green and purple meet on the left and right sides of the the flag, along the shape formed by two sinusoidal lines that trace horizontally across the flag, referencing the shape of the DNA double helix, and visually suggesting mutual overlap. In the center, the aperture between the two sinusoidal lines is coloured white.

Yeah, that's a visual accident, but a very nice one. 💜

Finally, the aperture between the two spirals can symbolise the tension between humanity and other species, and the dysphoria that some of us feel. Like how DNA folds and unfolds there, a lot about speciesqueerness for me is about how we navigate, tolerate, and deal with the tension of that gap.

With the symbolism of green for the greater natural world, and purple for humanity, the interface of the shape can symbolise how humanity and nature overlap with and are part of each other.

Yup! The double helix lends itself to a lot of dualistic symbolism.

DNA itself is both the thing that all species have in common and what they're differentiated by.

I stopped walking more digitigrade at some point in early adulthood, and it's not been great.

Resumed walking digitigrade again last year, and it's fixed a lot of leg/knee/feet issues and pain.

Today i learned that in early drafts of "The Lion King", Scar's minions were Cape hunting dogs (African wild dogs) rather than hyenas.
Early concept art for "The Lion King".

Change is coming
Now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what i've been clinging to

"going to bed in trouble for this" is a whole mood, though.

I know it's not necessarily what you asked for, but i try to really internalise the idea that any social protocol that doesn't accommodate how my brain works is a cage i don't want to be trapped in, and that i _must_ trust leaning into that, to gravitate me towards where i should be.

Postcard, and my favourite cereal is Cereal Killer from the 1995 classic "Hackers".
A still from the movie "Hackers" (1995), showing Matthew Lillard's character Cereal Killer on top of a skyscraper, howling at the sky.

Wow! What a vibrant painting.

This works really well with your style! It's really impressive, especially for a first animation.

That looks amazing.
