When people ask where I do my soda firing, I get to say that I do it in a.. kiln...down by the river. These sweet little espresso mugs were fired with the folks at St. John's Clay in their kiln yard at Green Anchors. I'll have them with me at my next in person market with Day Dreamer Coffee.

Have had some lovely results in the latest firing of the neighborhood soda kiln. #tankardtuesday #sodafired

I'm thrilled to have been selected for a year-long exhibit of works at the Oregon Governor's mansion. The theme of the exhibit is 'Clay in Migration', focused on works by potters who have moved to (or returned to) Oregon. I submitted several pieces decorated with wild slips collected in the US west.

One of a set of three copper kaki (persimmon) red mortars and pestles from the last firing. I like to improvise these, making each differently. The texture applied on the wheel works well with this glaze I think.

One of a set of tall tumblers/steins out of a recent soda firing with the community studio in my neighborhood. I've been having fun learning how my glazes behave entirely differently in this atmospheric and partial reduction environment.

These tumblers are nice examples of some wild slip decorations I've been working on. There are two wild clays in play here. One is from a purple seam of clay in NW Wyoming. The other is from Northeastern Wyoming near the Bighorns. Decorations with iron oxide turn metallic blue on the wild slip.
