When I was in San Francisco, yeah I would literally work almost a 20 hour day for weeks on end with no problem just to survive. It was extraordinary. But I did it and I didn’t fucking complain and I didn’t bitch about it. I just did the thing because it needed to be done.

Some of those circumstances I brought upon myself and some were out of my control, but I’ll put in the legwork. I have no issues with working to take care of my family and have financial security not a problem. But if circumstances outside of my control affect that then I might need some help.

Do you know why I don’t want to take advantage of a system to help me out? Because if I could do it on my own, I would there are families out there that need government assistance. I am a capable hard-working person who can absolutely take care of himself, but circumstances fucked me up.

For me right now, I need the government to step in and say hey, he needs help and I actually do. There’s a huge difference between asking for help and saying I’m in a spot where I’m stuck please help me out versus I’m gonna take advantage of your system.

Do you know why we have a program called unemployment services, and supplemental nutrition programs? Because in the great recession of the 1930s, we had soup lines as far as the eye could see that that’s a bad look for the country. Therefore, these types of programs started.
