I went on the Dead Languages Podcast and all I got was this creeping sense of unease as the world disintegrates around me! Listen to me chat with PLM and Carson about disorientation in horror, fun ways to collapse reality, and NYC's plague of sexy, sexy rats

I think if a poetry journal sticks an AI slop image onto your poem when they publish it online, they should refund the reading fee you probably had to pay them.

Hi Eryn! Thanks for hosting #HorrorWritersChat this week!
pierceking.bsky.social
With the Haunting of Hill House being one of my favorite books, I would love to write something like that with Shirley Jackson. Not necessarily a haunted house, but some weird quiet horror! #HorrorWritersChat
erynmccee.bsky.social
So what do you think you would write, #HorrorWritersChat? The end is looming. Outro coming soon.
Q4. Going back to the first question: your historical doppelganger. What would you write together?
pierceking.bsky.social
Since traveling through time would be an unknown journey, pretty much anything that could go wrong through the actual traveling. Maybe some entity lives along the "road" used for time travel or it could inflict alien biology onto the traveler. #Horrorwriterschat
erynmccee.bsky.social
So #HorrorWritersChat we're on the past now, so lets talk time travel. It's usually more scifi than horror but how could you incorporate it into horror? I'm all ears.
Q3 How would you incorporate time travel into horror? What makes it horrifying?
pierceking.bsky.social
Probably the 20s and 30s. I just love the weird pulp vibes of the time plus the lack of modern day technology. #Horrorwriterschat
erynmccee.bsky.social
I'm very much enjoying the historical doppelgangers. Well done #HorrorWriterChat bods.
So this question assumes that you have full knowledge of the era. You don't have to choose one you do write in, but you can. You absolutely can.
Q2
Assuming you knew everything about the era what historical period would you most want to write horror about?
pierceking.bsky.social
I'm Pierce, from VA. I don't know if I could say any historical writer is my doppelganger, but I LOVE Shirley Jackson and Ray Bradbury!
erynmccee.bsky.social
Well hello #HorrorWritersChat, are you ready? Of course you're ready you wonderful scallywags. Go on then flex your intros. And leave the links at home for now thanky kindly. You know why.
Q 1

Step inside, horror writers. Where are you from and which historical writer is your doppelganger?

As of August 15, A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING GREENTREE has been out for one year. And wow, what a year it's been. I've always seen this book as something of a black sheep in my catalog, but I wanted to take some time to reflect on it. /THREAD
