If his index finger here is any indication, that’s really not the level of training you want to see in this kind of situation. Just scary.

This speech sent me to the internet archive to read the old "Cuba at the UN" speeches of the 60s. Remarkable overlap.

Wait really? I have a pile of like 7. And the office frowns on a LA Dosers tie dye.

This was one of the best things I’ve read all year. The clear eyed recitation of facts about our current moment and how it relates to American history seems so obvious, but too often is obscured (or even occluded). Also helluva kicker. Art fans 🤝 Ken Burns fans.

The good people at Red Tavern will fix this for you.

Was listening to this live recording of his recently from Australia where he bangs into a Waltzing Matilda for a few minutes before going into Poor Poor Pitiful Me. Such a cool move. open.spotify.com/track/5qC0Mj...

If one’s unable to see history as a process and not individual unconnected things that happened, you’re gonna have a hard time.

I'm basically a single issue District 1 voter: Can a simple business open within a couple months without spending six figures on governmental headaches? (This story is over a year old) www.sfchronicle.com/food/restaur...
Popular S.F. bakery was set to open its first shop — but red tape has kept the space empty for a year
Saltwater Bakeshop, a popular farmers' market operation, has been trying to open a bakery in San Francisco for nearly a year. Here's what's taking so long.

Geary is a graveyard of empty storefronts. Just one bakery has spent a fortune and years of time trying to open — but is stuck in red tape. But my supe wants to go to bat for cars on our oceanfront? I used to drive the great highway every day. Now I take another route. It's fine. Grow up.

The Le Guin intro to Roadside Picnic really hits.

I say this from SF, but I have to imagine it’s true in NYC too: haven’t we reached peak Detroit pizza? I mean it’s fine. But what’s the marginal value of another option.

This amount of funding was enough to make an Anora every week for more than a year. Remarkable things are happening with the movies.

This blew my mind when I read it. Warren the Ape shows Baker's ability to write goons.

I have one that I can't wait to get rid of. They recently updated the bodies of the Model 3 and Model Y which more than anything serves as a badge demonstrating that person is Cool With All of This.

The library has a streaming service where there are kid’s books illustrated and narrated. I was watching The True Story of the Big Bad Wolf with the kid, and thought “god this guys really going overboard trying to do a Giammati” — turns out it was actually him.

Really excellent profile — that break to go over Time Magazine 1989 was crushing.
