We’re are launching an independent industry-wide survey for font users. We want to hear about your experiences: What works? What’s confusing or frustrating? What would you change? Your answers will help us decide how licensing works within the Fontstand Cooperative.

New CakeType release: Vandertak CAPSLOCK!

As its name suggests, Vandertak CAPSLOCK is an all-caps version of “Vandertak”. But it is also much more than that. Referencing the architectural origins of the typeface, the five “stackable” styles have a dimensional look.

NEW RELEASE — Rigby Mono!

Our small Rigby type family got a little larger: now also available in a monospaced variant that makes monospaced text extra personable. Nevertheless, Rigby is still not overwhelming you with a confusing number of styles.

This is Frivolity—my very first attempt at designing a serious font. The file says it was from 1996, so almost 30 years ago. What was your first attempt?

Jan-Willem van der Looij (not on Bluesky) and I letterpress printed an art poster for the football match between FC Eindhoven and Vitesse. For the poster I made two linocuts, one with vertical stripes (both clubs have stripes on their home jerseys) and one with text. We think the result looks great.

This toilet sign I made in 2002 using ironing beads. On the sign you see Capibara Kees – designed for my Type and Media graduation project – peeing. Still a great sign… I think.
