Birds, botany, insects and stuff mainly but not always in Shropshire and often Venus Pool
Thanks Martin, great team effort. Mine hasn't arrived yet although I lugged boxes of them to CJ's with G and Sue last week for posting, so it should be on its way.

It's quite well recorded in Shropshire now the wildlife group has realised you can identify it from external appearnce and how to find it. Almost any tussocky grassland we vac sample seems to have them. We try to find it every week, although didn't see one yesterday.

Little Gull 1w with that strong dark w, lack of dark trailing edge to wing, etc

As you probably know, they're really small, about 5mm max. It would be scary if you were a springtail though.

That's pretty impressive Andy!

Could be the Shropshire (Venus Pool/Atcham) bird from 31 Dec 25 - 1 Jan - looks much the same.

Thanks Ben, I knew the Orthotrichum had spread recently but didn't realise that M violacea had as well. Camera is an Olympus Tough TG6, which does nice close ups and focus stacking etc

I didn't do a VP list on the basis that I had done one last time, also in winter though, so a spring trip definitely required then! We slightly struggled to find many invertebrates, but woodland in winter is often hard work. Plus it was absolutely freezing 😅🥶
