im telling you, we need to bring back the word poseur. these tiktok and reddit kids are driving me insane

like, like it or not punk has a sound and a scene. you cant seperate it. if you're afraid to make an aggressive song or a song less than 5 minutes long because you might get less air time or clicks, you aint a punk. that goes against so much of what punk is.

what separated rock and punk was the low brow nature from it, hatred of the fame and glamour of hair metal, working class roots, and simplicity. it was down to earth. the music isnt complex or trying to tell a story. its fast and angry.

positivity in punk was like "we can work for something better than this shit", if you start sounding like a motivational poster or white collar group coordinator I WILL be scoffing. being humble and down to earth is one of the biggest core parts of the punk subculture/ideology.

suits love to sell feel good fluff bullshit. everything wants the internet to just be "cat videos" because it's inoffensive, doesnt challenge anything, and it makes investors placated. being cynical, openly criticizing the system, being crude or weird, that's not as advertiser-friendly

as a street punk guy, yeah I agree. people dont listen to the music or jive with the core parts of the subculture, its more than just "rebellion" and being vaguely leftist. like a lot of punk is pretty mean-spirited and cynical

like this is just the end product of conservative ideology, a militarized police state deciding who's worthy of life and who isnt.

I am not saying to do nothing btw but in this case, I dont think filing a formal complaint is the main and only avenue we should be doing idk

destroy the scheduled content model. it incentivises piggybacking and laziness. creativity and good content takes time
