Agree about arugula — tastes like skunk. Baby turnips steamed and with lots of butter are sweet and yummy. Best to grow your own. Lima beans, still a nope from me, since my childhood in the ‘50s. As someone else comments, little bags of sawdust!

I too was surprised to find Jane Eyre was not wordy and old-fashioned, but instead quite the exciting read, when I first read it 50 years ago. OTOH I’ve never been able to get through anything by Jane Austen.

Plus she spelled it wrong. Singular ‘ho’ plural ‘hos’. Surely she didn’t mean to compare people to gardening implements?!

Peliganza!

Your (European) robins are so danged cute! compared to ours in the US, though ours do have a beautiful song. Ours are also thrushes, rather than flycatchers.

“I don’t like being in prison. Let me out.” said probably every prisoner ever.

At least with people on speakerphone, everyone around them is free to join the conversation: arguing, disagreeing, telling bad jokes, casting aspersions on the phone owner’s wardrobe, screaming….

Is that the one that had the sign on the street above saying ‘Men Below Please Don’t Throw’ for years? We loved that sign, and whoever stated the warning so poetically.

And thank you for the beauty of Mother Earth you share with us.

One wildflower ID book I read called these ‘belly flowers’ bc you have to get down on your belly to see them.

I wonder whatever happened to what I once heard was their original motto: ‘Don’t be evil’?

There will literally be dancing in the streets, worldwide.

It’s just that as spelled ‘mic’, traditional English grammatical pronunciation (long vowel preceding silent ending ‘e’) would make it pronounced ‘mick’. Also ‘micro’ is not pronounced ‘mick-ro-phone’ Just my grumpy old self disgruntled by bad spellings, malapropisms and sloppy speech these days.

One year I grew love-in-a-mist, lovage and bleeding heart. It would be fun to grow others with love themed names: kiss me over the garden gate, love-lies-bleeding ….

Says every generation since Gregorian Chant gave way to that shocking new musical style, Organum (11th century)!!!!!

Have you ever played in the Tuba Christmas concert in Portland OR? Held yesterday, over 350 tubas sang forth. My all-time favorite tuba ensemble, though, was the Scooba Dooba Tuba Quartet (I think it was a 4tet) at Univ of Oregon. Wonder if it’s still existence?

Thank you from Oregon!

A bit late for that, but read Mary Trump’s book ‘Too Much But Never Enough’ for a deep dive into DJT’s sad, miserable childhood — he literally never had a hug, was severely neglected — as the beginning of his sad, miserable adult life.

Yeah, and don’t forget all the m/billions of years with CO2 levels so high most forms of life were impossible. And, uh, that we are headed there…..
