Happy birthday to actress #SaoirseRonan!

Her films #LadyBird & #LittleWomen were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar & featured in our yearly Oscar homage. Her latest film is based on Amy Liptrot's #TheOutrun; both the film & book can be found in our library collection!

Well this is disheartening.
SCOOP: DOGE notified the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) today that the entire staff is being put on administrative leave effective immediately, I’ve learned from an agency source.

They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).

Tonight is D&D (4-8pm) and FiberNauts (6-8pm). Come join us IRL!

The Exec Order that dropped on 3/14 kills the funding keeping libraries connected in the US, including our Mid-Hudson Library Services. Please call your US Reps and Senators before the 3/21 to tell them that the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) must remain fully funded.

Silent Book Club is today from 4pm-6pm. Be there...or wherever. Just make time to read. And audiobooks=reading.

Are you having trouble reaching your NY State representatives before 3/21 to push for higher library aid numbers and to get the library capital bonding language added in to the final budget?

Your local library will be happy to help you!

We thank the patron who returned our latest paper copy of The Onion after we called to remind them that, as the sticker on it says, it's for "In Library Use Only."

It took fortitude to reach into their kitchen trash can to retrieve it.

Heads up! If you need to fax something, check out your local library. They usually have a fax service, and it might be free (ours is!). #library #fax #free

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.
