Organic farmer. Maine islander. Congresswoman for Maine’s 1st District 🦞🌲
About to head in for the first vote series of the week, but just a few quick thoughts on this nice night outside the Capitol.

Back to DC to fight this out of control Administration.

We're moving forward on impeaching Noem. We’re also looking at how we can check DHS, which is enabling untrained ICE agents to terrorize our communities.

Protests this weekend showed people are standing up. I’m proud to stand with them.

Doug LaMalfa once offered to give me a few empty tequila bottles—so I could return them for deposits in Maine.

I thought he was joking. Then the bottles showed up.

That was Doug: funny, good-natured, and always willing to reach across the aisle.

I’ll miss him. And I know his loved ones will, too.

Protesting in Rockland today with my fellow Mainers, standing in solidarity with the people of Minnesota and all Americans who oppose #ICE and this lawless administration. ENOUGH!

We had some BIG wins this week, from extending the ACA tax credits to the Senate voting to check Trump on Venezuela.

But the murder of Renee Good is a tragedy we can't allow to fade away.

We MUST hold ICE accountable—and keep fighting to protect the American people from this reckless regime.
January 9, 2026 at 6:03 PM
Now it's time for the Senate to act.

Yesterday, President Trump announced he wants to add $500 BILLION to our already bloated defense budget.

If we can afford that, we can more than afford to extend these tax credits—and whatever it takes to create a more sensible + resilient health care system.
January 8, 2026 at 10:24 PM
It’s been a dark few days, but we’ll take any win we can get—and this one is BIG.

The House just passed @housedemocrats.bsky.social's bill to reinstate ACA tax credits for 3 years!

This alone won't fix our broken health care system. But it will provide much-needed relief for millions of Americans.

After weeks of tough negotiations, @democrats-appropriations.house.gov delivered an Interior and Environment funding bill that protects public lands and the environment, invests in Tribal communities, supports the arts, and rejects billions in cuts proposed by the Admin and House Republicans. (1/3)

Renee Good was murdered by ICE.

The Administration is lying about it.

ICE is terrorizing Minneapolis. Just like they’ve terrorized L.A., Chicago, and hundreds of other communities—including in Maine.

It’s time to impeach Kristi Noem and hold this lawless, violent agency accountable.

ENOUGH.

🧵

Stephen Miller is one of the most monstrous people in this Administration, full stop. His comments here are truly unhinged.

But when it’s the President of the United States openly threatening to take over A LITERAL NATO ALLY, as he’s done repeatedly—that should alarm every American. (1/4)

Republicans continue to spew propaganda about J6, attempting to recast the insurrection as a peaceful protest.

But we will NOT let them forget about what really happened; about the horrors we all witnessed; about the brave officers who defended us—and Democracy itself.

We will never forget. (2/2)

Five years ago, more than 2,000 people—whipped into an angry frenzy by Donald Trump—attempted to violently overthrow our government.

They assaulted police officers.

They looted and destroyed.

Some threatened to kill members of Congress (and the VP).

Trump pardoned every single one of them. (1/2)

Four businesses were destroyed in the post-Christmas fire at Custom House Wharf. Insurance will help some, but for many lobstermen, the impact runs deeper.

I met with owner John Jabar today to talk about recovery, the community support pouring in and how we rebuild this working waterfront stronger.

Cold morning on the Maine coast, headed back to DC. Thanks to our discharge petition, the House will finally vote on extending ACA tax credits that millions rely on for affordable health care.

Meanwhile, the president is focused on taking over Venezuela and Greenland.
January 5, 2026 at 1:56 PM
Americans want affordable health care, food, and housing. Not another forever war.
January 4, 2026 at 3:32 PM
Not a good way to start 2026 seeing Trump attack a sovereign nation, capture its leader, and claim the US will “run it.”

How is this any different than Putin invading Ukraine?

It’s a violation of international law AND our Constitution—period.

Congress must vote on a War Powers Resolution ASAP.
January 3, 2026 at 9:23 PM
There it is. Trump just admitted what this was all about: oil.
January 3, 2026 at 4:59 PM
But of course he doesn’t care about the artists. He only cares about marble armrests, tacky gilded finishes, and his own ego.

Performers are cancelling because they refuse to be associated with a politicized institution that no longer reflects the Kennedy Center’s mission or values.

Even before the board’s illegal name change, ticket sales were already down and the Center’s reputation was suffering under Trump’s control.

It’s been a really hard year, there’s no doubt about that, and there are many fights ahead.

But despite all the bad this year, there was some good to celebrate that leaves me feeling hopeful for the new year. People are engaged like never before. And when we fight, we win.

Here’s to 2026! 🍾🥂🇺🇸

The Smithsonian exists to tell the full American story—not the version a president finds politically convenient.

You know what they say: Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

What a treat to have a true White Christmas this year!

Wherever in Maine you happen to live, whatever your traditions or rituals, no matter the challenges this past year has brought, I hope you find some magic in these moments—and plenty of love and joy to warm your heart.

Merry Christmas!

Gotta say, this is my kind of weather—cold, snowy, and perfect for fun times outdoors with the grandkids.

We have our work cut out for us going forward, but right now, it’s about family, friends, and enjoying this quintessentially Maine weather.

Merry Christmas Eve to my fellow Mainers!
December 24, 2025 at 7:29 PM
So grateful to be back home in Maine for the holidays, spending some much needed time away from Washington with family and friends.

Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center is still very much top of mind.
December 23, 2025 at 6:03 PM
The pattern here is clear: He thinks that these buildings—which belong to the American people—are *his* property.

Remember, this isn’t even legal in the first place.

I will keep fighting this until the day his name is stripped away with the same disregard he showed in putting it there.
