That is precisely what he said. If the flight was cancelled, it would mean that the plane did not go and that none of the passengers flew. But they could not board because their reservation had disappeared. So they swiped their boarding passes and were stopped.

Thanks! As it happens, this will be a rare (only our third) trip to Europe (Norway). Most of the places we go are developing countries and we are usually out in the middle of nowhere so who knows if they even have a nationwide emergency number.

You should read Beth Macy's book Paper Girl. She explains clearly how and why they hate us, based on how her own family and the town where she grew up went hard right. They are not voting for him or for his policies. They are voting against us. It really is "to own the libs."

I've been very fortunate to have traveled to about 40 countries. Each time, we've forgotten something or while there, thought of something it would have been good to have.

What we've ALWAYS forgotten is to find out how to "call 911" in the country we are visiting.

Our neighborhood was built in the 1950s so when we moved here, hardly anyone had kids. We'd buy candy but maybe 2-3 kids came to the door. When older people moved out, they knocked down the houses and built mini-mansions so people with kids moved in. Now we get quite a few kids.
