Life is messy; sometimes you lose yourself along the way and you're not always going to make the right choices. You can't wallow in it, you owe it to yourself and those around you to be better.

The comic says: "People said I was too abrasive in my approach toward problems when I was younger, so I tried really hard to change and did! I think I took it too far and got dog walked. I think empathy is an amazing skill everyone should practice, but it should never cloud your judgement with people like it did with me for the last few years. I tried to believe in people much more than I should've, and I thought the best way to help a situation was to help others understand where they were wrong and help them change -- but that wasn't my job, and most of them never actually changed because they knew exactly what they were doing and banking on the blind support of their friends. In the end I chose for the wrong team each time, I own that mistake. I don't think I will be coming for people's defense in the same way that I used to, and I don't think I'll be as nice and palatable as I have been the last few years (though granted, some of you have been so fortunate to have seen that side already haha). I hate that I slowly whittled myself away from someone who was strong, unabashed and opinionated to this little dog with their tail tucked between their legs about everything. Sure the last few years have been traumatizing, but I realize I need to get a grip. I'm older and capable of being a more thoughtful version of who I used to be."
