Yes it’s good to keep up with what is happening in this country. But no, it’s not good to allow yourself to get overwhelmed by it all. Nature is a great antidote to all the grief you may feel. I had forgotten that.

Despite all that has been done to her, Mother Nature still decides to get out of bed each day!

A break in the rain today offered an opportunity for a fog shrouded walk here on the mountain. Beauty shines even amongst the clouds.

Trump is finally “woke” as he rolls back climate change with his recession producing tariffs. Less goods produced means better air quality, less resource extraction and cleaner water. The natural world celebrates which allows me to make peace with one part of the destruction F47 is causing.

My beautiful girl. Waiting for a walk, a pet, or a treat perhaps?

This morning, while out with my dog, a nuthatch called to me from the trees while the first rays of sun caught the ridge above me. These voices and views drowned out for a moment what is happening in the human world and brought joy.

A community of trees. All different species, all with different needs, roots and branches entangled working together. Clearly there is a lesson here for the human species.

“We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”

Yes, the little one fell in the creek at one point, but the overall joy experienced while jumping from rock to rock across flowing water brought many smiles. Kids exposed to the natural world will gain a life long love of the wilds and a desire to protect those places.

Where is the love?

And some, if not most days, you just gotta let the joy of children lift you up!

And for 2 hours today, while sitting creekside and walking my dog, I totally forgot about the state of the world…

I love how spending time in new places allows for discoveries. Came across a Persimmon tree and Mountain Laurel on a trail in the Blue Ridge, neither of which would be found where I live in northern Michigan.

Feeling overwhelmed from all the trump created chaos in our country? Get outside and remember there is still beauty in this world.

Columnist out of conservative Indiana making these remarks. Keep on boycotting all unnecessary spending beyond food and medicines. Vote with your dollars. A purchase in trump’s economy is a vote for his agenda.

Nearly every measure of economic health has plummeted. A survey of the carnage is stunning.

Shameful to be making cuts to Native Americans. How about we cut out the entire Executive Branch of our government instead?
