Looks like a 50 year old piece of kit. Only thing I can suggest is, if it's fully detached, carefully remove the loose bit of heatsink and see if the fault changes. It might be creating a short. Issues with dirty pots, dry joints are common at this age as much as anything. Needs a proper look-see.
