If you're in Cardiff there is a rare chance to see this brilliant little doc Secret Mall Apartment about artists taking over a shopping mall. We've spent 7yrs @shiftcardiff.bsky.social in a mall thanks to @axisweb.bsky.social, but haven't started living there (yet).

Started the year right. Breakfast and Lubitsch. A Design For Living is a great way to open the year. Now off for a brisk walk to commission my friend to make me some of Gilda's gowns.

Watched this with my mum yesterday after thinking 'wow, I don't know anything about this film'. Turns out I saw it a few years ago. Thank goodness for @letterboxd.social logging, hopefully I won't log it again?

Herbivore in Cardiff (this month he's in Bacareto) was incredible as usual. I'm going to think about this chocolate brownie with soy sauce caramel, vanilla ice cream and maple chilli crisp for a long time.

Very sad to hear about Udo Kier, he lived an incredible life. I think I was first introduced to him (at an inappropriate age) by Madonna’s Erotica video. My friend's Dad had the book but we weren't allowed to look at it. Lots of beautiful faces in that film, but I was fascinated by his.

Yes, Odelay is amazing but this was Super Furries' year of explosion. A proper Cool Cymru year cos think it was also Way Beyond Blue and Manics' Everything Must Go, but Big 3 by 60ft Dolls... What a time to be a teenager hanging out in Le Pub in Newport!

Watching the incredible Glen Manby celebration 30yrs of Jazz in the Bar at Chapter Arts Centre. I've just watched American Psycho with The Evolution of Horror podcast gang, now hanging out with Peppa, the Chapter cat and generally having a lovely time.

I may flirt with other places, but I am devoted to Cardiff. Look at this gorgeous city. I'm currently sat in the cafe in the park surrounded by happy people and boisterous dogs, staring a huge, thick, sprawling oak tree on the river bank. Bliss, innit.

Well, I quoted @bilgeebiri.bsky.social in my introduction to Hamnet tonight, warning everyone that this was going to be an emotional experience but I don't remember the last time I was sobbing so hard with 180 other people. Hamnet is an incredible film. Go see it when it opens in January.

Really moving speeches from Senedd members Alan Davies and Huw Irranca Davies; Ruth Cocks (British Council Wales); and Inna Yehorova (Ukrainian Embassy) about the importance of cultural exchange and understanding at our event to celebrate Ukrainian culture at Chapter. Truly feel a bit more inspired.
