When your 81yo dad starts messaging links to a recipe his grandma made, you make it. His grandma Caroline lived til 99yo, and I remember eating cruzciki. I'll be taking Hawaiian Punch as well, that's what GGMa served with it.

I applied for my passport on July 17. No travel plans nor did I expedite. It arrived at my house on August 1.
Now, where to go first? Not that I can afford international travel right now other than a quick day trip to Canada.

At the grocery store this morning, a single can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls was $5.99. I only looked because I had a coupon for $1 off 2. Um, no. The Annie's were $7.99.
Thank goodness I can bake. I'm going to make a batch of cinnamon rolls on Sunday.

Compared to the shit show that is our nation at the moment, my husband and I celebrate 30 years this weekend. The house we live in is where we had our first kiss as teens. Our friends and family helped us celebrate today.

I appreciate my city workers today. Someone hit a skunk in front of my house at 6am and the city roadkill crew had it cleaned up by 1pm. Smelly work but very much appreciated!

Didn't get a chance to make it yesterday to #makeDollyPartonsmile but I'm making my box mix pound cake with a Dolly Parton twist. Mix, plus ingredients, extra 1/3 c milk, 1 box coconut pudding (dry) and 2/3 cup toasted coconut Mix together then bake in a greased bundt 45-50 min.

I have the day off work in the middle of the week. I have plans, let's see how much I get done. Bird watching, gardening, a yoga class, and ignoring any work calls and texts.

Neighbor noticed me working on the garden and I mentioned no zucchini this year. I think his brother and a friend ate 50% of the zucchini last year. 2 plants was giving me 8 zucchini a week for a month and then 2-3 a week for another couple weeks. Too much for me to do every year.

Some mocha scones on a dreary Sunday. First time I've had the energy to bake from scratch since January.

Completed the active phase of a massive project today. It overlapped another massive project so I've been working extra extra for a while. I celebrated by eating my last hazelnut creme egg from Easter.

I was raised Catholic. My dad's an ordained deacon. I'm not Catholic anymore but I liked Pope Francis. He lived more like what I was taught in Catholic school than any other Pope or bishop I'd ever seen.

After 15 straight work days, you bet I said yes when the dealership said they could do my recall fix after my oil change. 2 hours sitting in a dealership lobby feels like a vacation. I still have to go to work for almost 8 hours afterwards, but a break is a break.

My 25yo got second in one of her logging team competitions today. I was the sports mom who attended every event and being 1200 miles away is hard. But her sister and her auntie got to be there and sent video. Go CSU Logging Sports!

Got my first real haircut in 6 years. I feel like me again as it's a style I have had and loved. And I have my next appointment scheduled so I don't let it get out of hand again.

It's sunny and the first 70⁰ day of 2025. I actually clocked out for lunch and am eating it on the loading dock in the sun. I told them 15 minutes but I might stay out 5 more.

Using my Polish great grandma's pastry board to knead a Welsh recipe I'm playing with today. The recipe is for sage and leek bread. Sage gives me migraines so I'm subbing Thyme instead because I love thyme and leek together. I'm hoping for delicious toast this week.
