Yeah, I did wonder about that aspect. And it’ll be interesting with some of the contestants already knowing each other quite well too. But also, I love that they’re already making the same accusations. “Clare fucked up on purpose, she’s a traitor.” Feels like that could’ve happened in any series.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of #CelebrityTraitors. It’s still The Traitors, I just already know who most of them are. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

280. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Took the Sonic formula, added Tails, and basically improved everything else. This is an absolute classic, with some tough platforming sections. Plus, until Sonic Mania, the best multiplayer Sonic game in Vs mode. And it’s still great today. #365games

With the new show coming, the canonicity of those is obviously questionable at best now. But he also became a lot sillier in the comics. They were fun, but he felt less like the Count. This episode, at least treats him with some respect.

But Martin also, and I do know if this is a compliment, just looks like Dracula. Every time I’ve seen him in something else, I’ve thought he looked like Dracula.

Dracula only appeared in the show once, but reappeared later in comics, in Buffy Season 8, and the Spike Vs. Dracula miniseries.

I haven’t seen either of those, but I can see why he keeps getting the call.

His Dracula is suave, but with a savagery underneath. In his fight with Buffy, he spends the time looking delighted, until he meets the end of Mr. Pointy.

Giles encountering the brides is particularly amusing for me.

As for Dracula himself, he’s played by Rudolf Martin, who had already played Dracula once before in Dark Prince, a TV movie that claimed to be the “true” story of Dracula. He also played the part again, in a 2022 movie called Revamped.

But along the way, there’s a lot of fun to be had.

One of the things I like about this episode is that the characters all know the story of Dracula, and the tropes it inspired. So while they go through an abridged version of Stoker’s story, they’re savvy enough to know that’s what’s happening.

Anyway, Buffy’s fifth season opened with this episode’s which sounded ridiculous on paper, but turned out to be a key point in Buffy’s development as a character. Dracula comes to Sunnydale and tries to seduce Buffy. Of course it doesn’t work, and she ends up kicking his ass.

I’m not the Buffy fan I once was. The behaviour of the executive producer has tainted the show, and its spin off, somewhat in my eyes. But I do still have a fondness, and am looking forward to the new show, which he is not involved in.

279. Metroid Dread. This might be my favourite Metroid. Super Metroid is rightly lauded as a masterpiece, but I struggle with the sometime fiddly controls. Dread’s controls are silky smooth. Plus, the added EMMI sections are fantastic. Properly tense as you escape unstoppable enemies. #365games

The author of their upcoming book said some racist stuff. They talked, said all his royalties were going to charity, and he apologised. Then he started doubling down instead, suddenly his royalties aren’t going to charity, and he’s celebrating his book coming out as a victory against cancel culture.
