Very slowly poached preferably overnight cut up quinces sugar syrup (equal sugar and water) to cover overnight in a very low oven hardly any faff but I think better than quince paste and more versatile

I don’t think that this is what you mean but when I was working on halliwell’s scrapbooks I was always conscious that his scraps equated to gaps/holes somewhere else. Or indeed even in the same place which I think is the case at the Folger.
