Wasn't the head of a federal party leader under police protection due to active threats from the government of India on Canadian soil?

Bullshit. Canada has capitulated to Modi.

If I read an article saying people of my faith were being attacked I'd be concerned too. It would cause me to second guess the character of those being accused. So I understand the reluctance to doubt the media in question.

It's unfortunate because creating distrust makes it easier to hate.

Yes this is a good example of fake news from Indian media.

Notice how there is no actual evidence as to who committed the vandalism, despite surveillance videos.

We really need to read carefully to stop these fake news outlets from disrupting good relations between the average Sikh and Hindu.

Also, I have not seen any evidence that khalistan supporters have vandalized temples

Reports by Indian media (which ranks around 150th in world press freedom ranking) spew propaganda to create communal rifts against Sikhs. In some cases evidence shows false flag operations. Careful what you read!

Agree. The protests were directed at the Indian consulate members who have hijacked temples in order to collect intel to carry out criminal acts of murder, extortion, etc. against Canadian Sikhs (www.ctvnews.ca/politics/rcm...)

Protests have not been held against any religious gathering.
RCMP alleges Indian officials in Canada connected to extortion, homicides
The RCMP is alleging Indian diplomats and consular officials based in Canada engaged in clandestine activities linked to serious criminal activity in this country, including homicides and extortions.

There's no "both sides" here.

"credible information linking the Indian government to the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an Indian-born Canadian national and Sikh dissident who was an outspoken supporter of Khalistan"

I'm going to side with the ones not killing people for holding opinions.

Clearly you didn't read the article

Some Sikhs have held peaceful referendums, proving global support for khalistan. This makes Indian nationalists angry (an insecure bunch).

"credible information linking the Indian government to the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar", a Canadian citizen.
