Jack Whitten: The Messenger closes this week at MoMA. It may be worth the crowds if you have not seen it. While he is best known as an amazing painter, his sculptures are significant and show the influence of Kongo culture. Here are two-the yin & yang. #jackwhitten #artistsofcolor

Went to The Newark Museum of Art where my former The New Museum intern from 1995 is now a Senior Curator. The lobby art includes this wonderful work by O. Donald Odita, whom I also met when I was working for TNM. Love long time connections. #artistsofcolor #curatorsofcolor #NewarkMuseum

I have received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. The 2025 Graduating Class were terrific young people from around the world. I loved the pomp and circumstance.

The past few weeks have been challenging given the machinations of the convicted felon and his band of miscreants, but the most difficult is losing good friends and the passing of Pierre Joris was a jolt to the heart. I mourn with his lovely widow, Nicole, their children, & friends.
