I’ve been waiting over 26 years for this comic to come out

Swamp Thing 88 was originally cancelled by DC and Rick Veitch, the writer, quit in protest. DC is now printing it as part of the “Swamp Thing 89” collection.
I knew Zulli had penciled it but I thought it was gone for good.

Have to agree with this bit from Mark Carney’s Davis speech about the complexity of being a “Middle Power” when the Major Powers no longer play by the rules of the institutions they had manufactured.
From the article at the Guardian…

Sitting on the bus home and suddenly can’t figure out if the beard goes on the the inside or outside of my zipped up coat.
This is some Captain Haddock nonsense!

Comic you loved when you were about 13 and says everything about you.

Had a pretty great Toronto gaming day. Dim Sum at Rol San followed by an afternoon of learning to play Kill Team at Meeplemart.
Was great to get my Genestealer Cult to the table and roll some dice with a group of very cool people.

Just received my copy of RelicBlade and found out that, Sean Sutter, the creator/artist/sculptor of this skirmish game, did a cool sketch on the first page! Of a heavily armed squid dude!
And there’s also a quickstart with paper tokens!

Post a comic you love - a top-5er for you

Daredevil #227

First comic I ever bought. (Still have it.) Picked it up at the marina while my brother paid for gas.
Loved the book. It seemed true. I already knew people like Karen Page. The Catholicism resonated. And the arc ended in forgiveness.

Israel is intentionally erasing Palestinians, reshaping their memory and murdering anyone who documents it.

The big mango tree is dropping fruit, ripe mango breaking open on the ground. It means there’s always agouti about.
And ducks? First time I’ve seen them wander in out of the bush. Didn’t know that ducks ate mangoes.
And, of course, I have horrible thoughts about whether it affects their flavour…

Went up to the country to finish up a short story to submit to @newedgeswordmag.bsky.social and ended up getting inspired by @spezbaby.bsky.social and worked until 3am on a new game for the one page jam.

Woke at 7am, couch tired and grateful for obsessiveness.

Saw an old friend under a burnt sky.

When I started getting into minis a year ago I thought it’d be all about painting and playing. Instead I fell in love with scratch building terrain and kit bashing skirmish warbands. Here’s some 1490 Doom weirdos made from bits from a half dozen kits and, my new love, Green Stuff.

Played in a 1490 Doom tournament today. Very cool.
My first time playing. It’s intuitive and fast, a half hour per game.
A round board puts a greater focus on the terrain and being miniature agnostic and three models per side gives it a low barrier to entry.

Finally got around to shovelling out towards the garage and found these perfect circles beneath the snow.
They are the thaw and freeze around the cat’s footsteps.
Hard evidence of a Queen passing through her kingdom. 😀
Alas, she walked alone.

At the end of a week long terrain making push. Learned a lot and that painting and texture rolling is a fine thing to do in the early hours when you can’t get back to sleep.
Finishing up with a DIY battle mat. Don’t know what I’m doing. Loving it.
Wondering if Anselm Kiefer ever painted up terrain.

Lo! Thy Dread Empire, a wargame/ttrpg by Tanya Floaker is amazing!
It uses a mix of narrative and meta currency spend that lets a player shape the conflict, even the terrain.
It is anti capitalist and very very funny. Julia Nevalainen’s art is wonderful!

Held off on reading Swyvers until the hard copy arrived, which was today.
I love everything about this game! Just a wonderful pile of tables and tone. Absolutely recommended.
And David Hoskins art is unreal. Appreciated the nod to the playful side of Gustave Dore.

While waiting for last night’s PF2 session to start I went back and played A Year In Revolt. Mostly me pulling cards and asking my son for prompts while he watched YouTube.
Our revolt had enough support to move on the capital but fractured, ideologically, and stalled.
And I was late for PF2.😀
