Unabashedly indulging my inner-child.
Not totally new doll - S.B. James kept his old head, but his hands & 1 foot had been broken, & his body & clothes were kind of crap.

He's still a bit wonky because, let's face it, that's my style, but he's better than version 1.

Looking like Tim Minchin was unintentional.

I bought this slightly dissipated looking secondhand Victorian mannie a few years ago and have just now found a use for him.

I don't know why I have so many Victorian-style dolls as none of my houses are set in that era.

Show prep usually involves making at least one new doll.

When I sorted all my childhood Lego, I found a few bits and pieces left intact from the last time I played with them when I was around 12. I was big on making really elaborate (for the time) houses.

Lurk and Sweet Audrina are my favourites out of the dolls I've made so far.

The music major's bed is an homage to the loft beds our fathers built me and my roommate for our sophomore year.

Like our room layout, there will be a computer and desk in the area beneath the bed.

The ministry student is finally getting a bed frame. I'm thinking of adding some wrought iron flourishes before painting it white.

This is my first time using a Lego jig, and it's been very handy.

We took Kermie for a cruise the other day. He was a big fan of the graffiti in Coupar Angus.

More framed miscellany, this time some buttons from my grandma's stash.

I've been making some wonky cardboard frames for some of my bits and pieces. Looks like I need to buy some more enamel pins.

The children's room in my late-MCM house was such fun. The bunk bed is based on a picture of a real period item. I want a 1:1 copy of that table and stools for my kitchen 😄

When I was renovating the house, I filled all the original windows and used framed photographs to place new windows as desired

Someday, I'll get back to working on this house.

Excluding the Lundby table and chair and the ceramic bits in the cupboard, 99% of the kitchen is made from paper - cereal boxes make up the majority of that.

The bar stools are painted pennies with a little felt and some toothpicks.

My own dorm room was ne rr this tidy. Most of the art, comics, and photographs on the walls here are from my uni years, and I had a very similar hanging sculpture made from grapevine.

It's been ages since I've made any flowers. I've got boxes filled with finshed flowers of all sorts already, but of course, none of them are the types I need.

I played around a little in the programmer major's room, accessorising the desk a little, blue tacking some doodahs on the shelf in the back, trying out a little tv stand. I'm thinking of a clothes rack in the empty corner.

Sometimes, I have to hide away from the world and play with my dollhouses. It's not a big change, but I'm testing the layout of the posters in the music major's room.

Gideon likes to live dangerously - lurking in the leg cave after I had Brussels sprout casserole for dinner.
April 2, 2025 at 5:59 PM
This week on Cats Are Assholes: Gideon ate an enormous hole in my favourite work jammies. I cut the other side off at the knee and cut this side off at the bottom of the hole - then sewed the bottom of the leg to the stump, making the legs roughly even.

We visited the Bunny Tree God for the first time this spring and left him our penny offerings.

He's been sitting there for at least ten minutes. I think he's trying to make a point about how no one is actually watching the tv.

It's that time of year again. Time for Spawn in the Pond!

The weird stuff your parents do seems normal to you.

The Kid & a friend just came in while I was painting that weird bit over the stove hood.

Friend: "Whoah!!"
The Kid: "Yeah, she does that a lot. It's like a problem."

(I think painting the kitchen is my way of coping with world events just now)

Today on Cats Are Assh*les:

The terrors are circling me like sharks, biting my legs and howling.

"You've been fed," I cry, "I saw the child do it!"

"It counts not, unless done by your hand," the insatiable piranhas repond.

When I was waiting for the ceiling layers to dry, I made a little frame for my cat skull out of cardboard and polyfiller. I need to dig out thr rest of my skulls for framing, too.

I was left unsupervised.... 😆

I'm thinking I'll paint the attic hatch in there in the corner like a night sky... when my neck stops hurting 🤣
