I support Palestine Action. Bit of a nerd in his late fifties, diagnosed with terminal cancer and came here for some positivity. Humanist, with an open and enquiring mind. Motto - Give as much as you can, take as little as you need!
How about Conn Iggulden and his historical fiction books, i hugely respected his war of the roses series. Gripping stuff.
Also in terms of politics I recommend the Peter Hennesy book, The Prime Minister the
office and its holders since 1945. It has a fascinating chapter on Margaret Thatcher.

It was life altering for me. I was about 14 years old and it was shown on the BBC here in the UK. I stayed in every night it was on (no video recorder) and it turned me onto humanism. It is still the best science programme in my opinion. I will be having the Pale Blue Dot speech at my funeral.

Thank you so much bud, it's been difficult but you can only play the cards that life deals you. I have accepted the situation and I am thankful that I have got the time to get my affairs in order and say goodbye properly to my loved ones. I also got married the other week after a long engagement!

Quick update, whereas the treatment for my head and neck cancer was a success, unfortunately a cancer cell decided to travel to the rest of my body. I now have terminal cancer in my liver, lungs, spine and bones. Get your children vaccinated and give them the gift of a future. Do something amazing.

As a male who has just finished his radiotherapy and chemo for head and neck cancer caused by HPV, I totally agree with this, and the original poster is bang on, it's fucking brutal and if you can avoid it with a vaccination please do your children a massive favour for the future!

I remember saving up my pocket money and money from odd-jobs and getting on the bus on a Saturday morning in 1982 to go into Leicester scouring the bookshops to find the hardback version of Cosmos. I still read it now and again and I will one day be successful in getting my daughter to read it!

Good evening! Just made the leap out of the sewer that was Twitter and what a pleasant surprise this place is. I'm reading Ready Player One (again) for my nerd intake, and listening to The Martian on Audible (RC Bray version). Cheers from the UK
