Town Planner what does policy stuff. Based in Northern England.
A 2/10 planning storyline on EastEnders.
So Elaine didn't even have an application in, but gets her grandson's connected mate to make a couple of calls to the council to get planning permission... Seemingly on an evening when they're out drinking?

Do they put 'train station' on purpose to drive engagement? Easy way to get 100 comments "IT'S A RAILWAY STATION"

Absolutely classic rugby league this. Just changing something with no kind of strategic direction. It went from 14 to 12 pro teams 10 years ago because it was felt that 14 was too many to sustain, now it's going back to 14 with a much bleaker outlook.

Wonder what the busy periods are on a council planning portal? What next, surge pricing?

Making the most of having to travel to Huddersfield for my NHS dentist and the m62 being closed by having an (alcohol free) beer by Standedge Tunnel on the way back.

Unbelievable numbers for this local news article on Facebook. I do believe that angry reacts help stories get more traction there. As I guess racist comments do too.

@footballcliches.bsky.social going down a wormhole looking at sectarianism in Glasgow, with an unlikely academic source....

Mind I loved this street near UCL which has done just that, but in a more democratic way...

London post work pub culture needs to catch up with Manchester and stop drinkers blocking the pavement by replacing trafficked streets with tables and chairs. A scene from Goodge St

Would make a good programme

It reminded me of Self Esteem growing up in the locality of Meadowhall and her adoration of it, in post industrial / post recession Sheffield in the 90s

Then it made me wonder what wider impact out of town shopping centres have had on pop-culture

I was thinking about this that I read from the interview with CMAT in the Guardian. Something interesting about the cultural impact of the out of town shopping centre in Celtic Tiger / pre 2008 crash Ireland

Next week is 60 years since Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and The Supremes came to Wigan, amazing.

If you had to Google what "the university of Greater Manchester" is you get this.
What a stupid rebrand.

Lesser spotted stations on the Greater Manchester rail network. Don't think anyone got on or off.

I did just notice this Hovis Hill around the back of Piccadilly too

Just noticed this blue plaque at Royal Exchange in Manchester today. I know there was a lot of change following the 1996 bomb but this feels strange now particularly as a) I didn't visit Manchester city centre til 2001 and b) the scale of change that has taken place since.

Always good to see practical bikes in the street... But loved the yellow of this one.
