Oh sorry I didn't think of the religious uses!

Just out of curiosity would electric candles be completely pointless?
January 11, 2026 at 9:28 PM
Stop liking candles is probably the best advice rather than getting an extinguisher. Candles are also awful for air quality.

Make sure your boiler is serviced, and gas system has had a leak test, and get an electrical safety inspection done if it hasn't been done in A few years.

Scottish rail journeys account for about 10% of UK rail journeys.

What £ and % have you experienced?

Regulated fares, which include season tickets and off-peak returns, will not see annual price rises for the first time in 30 years, the government announces.

Lovely looking dense development when I visited the other week. Will eventually link up to fully redeveloped area all the way to Bow Creek.

But if that was the case you wouldn't have stairs at all in any building?
December 26, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Most houses (pre-1940s) have these in the UK. Why would they not be considered safe?

I'm sorry do you not use modular false work systems in the US??

They have been pretty much standard in the UK for 40+ years.

Pretty sure that's the shot that broke his jaw in two places...

Bonnie Blue Vs Lambeth Council?

The admission of desire of violence against people just doing their jobs (and keeping local facilities open) just dropped in there like it's nothing.

Space saving in risers is also another plus.
December 13, 2025 at 8:59 PM
You're exactly right, the reason they delay these assessments is to save on costs. Speeding them up just costs them more

I once had a hilarious job sampling the Moselle to monitor for mobilised contamination during an adjacent construction project during remediation. Made sure the techs wore gloves washed their hands thoroughly after picking the loo roll off the sample containers!

Greenbelt is the noose around London's neck
December 11, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Oh yeah I didn't mean greater pop than NY, just that London has outgrown the greater London boundary which really should be expanded
December 11, 2025 at 4:02 PM
But surely London metro is way more than Greater London too?
December 11, 2025 at 1:40 PM
I think population was surely the main driver, not a perceived attitude difference? Would have been more difficult to get an even split N/S divide with the BBC regions at the time? Did you find any evidence it was attitude driven?
December 9, 2025 at 8:59 AM
Surely they had to do it that way to get even populations on either side? And would have had to account for the other countries also receiving one of the broadcasts? Presume Scotland is east and Wales and NI west?
December 8, 2025 at 10:34 PM
Yeah, because we've reformed it since then
