Ultimately, true representation in media needs proper investment. Studios and streamers, especially in today's landscape, expect instant success for queer series and are less likely to allow slow growth as they do with more mainstream stories. For them, investing in a final movie is more often than not a much cheaper route as it eliminates long-term actor contracts, condenses production schedules, and is much easier to market. There's also the unfortunate side to the industry where some companies will greenlight queer content to simply ensure they meet inclusion quotas, but rarely sustain these shows long enough to allow stronger audience investment. We live in a world over-saturated with content and studios and streamers need to understand that overnight hits are rarities these days. They need to stop seeing LGBTQ+ stories as special projects and the pattern of early support to early cancelation needs to stop. This decades-long trend sends a message to those watching, which ultimately states that while LGBTQ+ stories are good, they're not important enough to finish properly. It reinforces that queer stories, complexities, and happy endings are too niche for mainstream TV - and that needs to change. Heartstopper's upcoming movie finale continues this pattern. While it is ultimately a cause for celebration, as Netflix puts it, it's also a quiet reminder that queer stories deserve more than a rushed conclusion; they deserve a full series run.

Every trans adult was themself a child once.

By saying there are no trans kids you are necessarily also saying trans adults are lying or wrong.

There's no way to accept trans adults without also accepting that there are some trans people who haven't reached adulthood yet.
