Thousands of poor tuberculosis (TB) patients in Odisha have not received the government’s monthly nutrition allowance of ₹1,000 since April, leaving many struggling to sustain treatment amid rising costs. Though modest, the allowance under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana is crucial for patients from economically weaker sections. Several beneficiaries say the money, meant to support nutrition during treatment, has not been credited even once.

3 TB in a village!

A 2-day meeting (31st Oct-1st Nov), “No TB after 2025!”, was held at the premises of Ekta Niketan TB Centre. Members of Platform People First (PPF) from Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand participated that meeting and explored the root causes of India’s failing TB programme. On 1st November, cured TB patients who accessed the TB centre, their family members, and representatives of surrounding villages, about 300 of them, joined and met the District TB officials who attended the meeting.
