#peatlands are poorly recognised in #Brazil for their role in climate and water regulation although it's the tropical country with the largest peatland area, mostly in #Amazonia but also #Cerrado.

Brazil’s peatlands: 🌱 Huge climate potential, massive threats. New research shows, they store 39 Gt carbon but lack protection. COP30 in Brazil is a chance to change that. Time to put them on the Agendas for 2026!
