For a moment I thought that was a Hidden Britain sign in the first pic.

Yeah that measures.

The sensory stuff was always there with me, but I kind of normalised it by wearing headphones to cut the sound down rather than to listen to anything. As I've got older, in many ways they've become more acute, but they certainly changed.

Government policies are legally required to involve the people they represent (see the disability strategy being found illegal).

Where is the evidence they've checked with old and disabled people whether they are happy to go without care because the government has decided it wants to be xenophobic?

DHSC are currently keeping very quiet and not following up many of its objectives (or requirements) for this very reason.
December 10, 2025 at 2:48 PM
Especially when a statutory requirement is law, and their policy on reducing migration is not (I'm guessing yet).
December 10, 2025 at 2:43 PM
But it also sets up the position of statutory requirements being in place but the government limiting the available workforce so these cannot be met. I'm not sure how that can be squared, whatever statements they make about bringing more of the population into those roles.

So the statistics would not support even a fairly generous reading of that argument.
December 10, 2025 at 1:55 PM
Especially when the EA is needs rather than diagnosis led, so effectively you've got a government denying people's needs and claiming net migration is more capable of creating disadvantage than simply not meeting those needs in the first place.

And net migrants are economically a net positive.
December 10, 2025 at 1:54 PM
I guess the question would then be, if by putting these policies in action, would they be disadvantaging older and disabled adults more than than people moving into the country. They could point to the disadvantage being greater to the migrants, but it doesn't justify disadvantaging the former.
December 10, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Surely these obligations through the Care Act etc. would supersede what are political desires rather than legal duties to lower net migration.

You don't break the law or increase suffering on your own population because it wards off people coming in and state that's a net positive.

It's rather hard to make sense of life when the way you process it just isn't the same as people like Hadley.

A fluent friend of mine says "ungorn" for unicorn, in our local (Canolbarth) dialect.
