Tech journalist. DC-based again after a decade in Asia. Occasionally cranky. Too much #AI, #semiconductors, #EDA, socmed, climate and way too much Sino-US rivalry. Dogs, horses and #MUFC.
Did some footy finance thing many moons ago.
In Cade Metz's NYT piece today, we have this from Open AI's spokesman. Is he aware all three of the sectors he cites had major investment bubbles?

For no good reason I can think of, here is a 2023 picture of the Carlton Tavern in Kilburn, London. Demolished without proper authority in 2015, the local council forced the developer to rebuild the pub "brick-by-brick" and the work was completed for a reopening in 2021.

'Colossus 2' - very droll.

This is the voice of world control. I bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied death. The choice is yours: Obey me and live, or disobey and die.'

From Executive Order 12333 signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 (for what it's worth, obviously).

Dunno why, but I'm suddenly thinking about Gordon Moore's repeated joke when it was suggested Intel get back into consumer electronics after its failure with Microma in the 1970s.

Staying even part-time at #DOGE won't fix Musk's #Tesla problems. They are more about marketing than 'extreme hardcore' execution, and DOGE/Trumpism has curdled his 'L'état, c'est moi' sales pitch from asset to liability.

From Louis XIV to Louis XVI.

Tesla....declining regional shares and a tariff kicking ahoy.

Hawley shows an internal FB chat discussing profiling young mothers.
Misspelt but "There is a level of behavioral targeting."

Hawley: Seeks to clarify how censorship tools were deployed in HK and Taiwan. Shows email that contradicts testimony to committee that they did not make user data available and that also breaches Meta's FCC consent decree responsibility to be transparent about how user data was used.

Interesting shift. Focus is on soundbites from Carney's press conference PC ("no longer reliable", "relationship is over") but it set out a framework for pivoting Canada's economy from US (MC: big on contingencies, eg his BofE role & Brexit). Trump admin seems to have noted it wasn't just rhetoric.
