Giorgia Sottotetti is presenting on "Were pocket idols (hlutir) used as magical tools in divination rituals (‘casting lots’)? A multidisciplinary investigation of an account in Jómsvíkinga saga."
Giorgia has an MA in Viking & Medieval Norse Studies, focusing on archaeology & material culture.

Michelle studies Scandinavian Studies at Goethe-University, with a focus on medieval Norse literature, particularly manuscript traditions, & religious & historical contexts.

Abigail is a 3rd year PhD candidate at the University of Leicester. Abigail's main research focus is on material evidence for magical practice in late medieval & early modern Scotland.

Rebekah is studying an MSc in Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh. Research interests include British saint cults, Viking Studies, & Arthurian romance.

Katherine is a DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford. Interests include digital humanities, pre-Christian religion, manuscripts.

Trace Maddox will be presenting on "Crimen Occultissimum: Proving Witchcraft in the English Courts"
Trace is an early career scholar & practicing lawyer with research interests in comparative law and legal history. He has previously published on the role of gender in the early modern witch trials.

Martin Brockett will be presenting on "The role of seiðmenn in Viking Age society"
Martin holds an MLitt in Viking Studies. Research interests include the portrayal of sorcerers & magic in Icelandic sagas, and the Viking Age kingdom of Dublin-York. Martin is currently preparing to start a PhD.
