My understanding is that the guardsmen are from San Bernardino; they legally can do nothing but assist the feds due to posse comatatus.

It appears they are being used as pawns. I believe their oath is to both the president and the governor.

I wonder what their commanding officer thinks of this?

There are those at the top that know what’s going on, an outer circle that may be privy to some of this and others just going along for the ride, plus the base. It strikes me that this model is unsustainable

It seems possible that what is going on is being directed from Russia, but the Republican party seems to be made up of multiple factions with diverse objectives.

According to this article, a British girl was detained by ICE while trying to go to Canada to continue a backpacking trip. She was detained for 19 days by ice and the facility is apparently run by a company called GEO - www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I spotted you in Heathrow Airport around 20 years ago and only recognised you because of your height. I walked up to you and asked if I could shake your hand and you kindly obliged.

Thanks for adding a degree of sanity to our lives in these troubled times.

There doesn’t seem to be an enforcement mechanism defined, however

It just dawned on me, seeing their mentality, that doge probably means “department of getting even”. That works for both of them.

I had exactly the same thought since we're about to become victims of new epidemics such as H1N1, measles, TB and whatever else comes along. We may not be able to prohibit interstate travel as the law sits meaning that blue states could not prohibit entry from infected people in red states however

As a retired ex COBOL programmer I can tell you that it’s known as a low date for sorting and identifying missing values. The choice of date is arbitrary.

As people are fired or leave, it will become a huge problem to maintain these systems as domain expertise disappears.

It took me years to work that one out and at that time there was no Internet to look it up. If I remember correctly, in some basic dialects it’s not just true or false but zero or non-0 values.
