She's soft-spoken but can be disciplinary when needed. She reminds Eli and Alan of their mother. It's awkward for Lexi to be next door neighbors with her teacher.
The adults know her as the loner who stays at home all day and tends to her beautiful garden.
A good chunk of male students has a crush on her. She knows this and promotes their fantasies by teasing them. She doesn't attempt anything, she prefers to be sought after.
Yeah, she's still foul and should be fired, but Prin. Wood won't do anything about it.
Laverne is the only decent member of the Mendoza family. Her mother, big sister, and relatives are horrible. She's the black sheep of the family, and is trying to help her nieces break the cycle. To not end up becoming like their mother, Ms. Mendoza. This contributes to Lexi's character development.
I'm putting so much effort into developing the Mendoza family. Mainly their personalities, family dynamics, and backstories. The thing is... they're not that important. You'll only see them in a handful of episodes. We are supposed to focus on the teenagers and kids, anyway.
I'm thinking Carol sounds like Allison Janney or Carol Burnett in her role as the kangaroo in Horton Hears a Who! (2008). I have another animatic planned for that voice. If I can ever get to it.
But yeah, one of those two. Although, I'm leaning more towards Janney.
I can't. Where's MY Carol?! Where's the elegant middle-aged woman with repressed lesbian tendencies who is supposed to enter my life at a department store?!
Some fan art of Latrelle from Sordid Lives (2000). It's my 4th favorite movie, and it's right up my alley. I LOVE the eccentric characters, the wacky dialogue, and the over-the-top performances in Sordid Lives. This greatly inspires my work, along with all my other favorite films.
In TabooWood, almost every character has a Texan drawl/accent.
For this animation to work, Lexi and Hannah are adults here. This is part 2 of 7 animatics I plan on releasing all together. Knowing my animation workflow, they all should be done in a couple of years or decades.
I'm having fun creating Lexi's family. Predominantly women, you'll never see the men in her family. It's said they couldn't stand the constant squawking and bickering of these insatiable hens. This is a play on city ordinances that don't allow owning roosters.
